Does that work!? Heck, I'd school some kids for free meals. Sounds more rewarding than jumping them on the way to school and stealing their lunch money.

I believe not, but in all honesty it is no real loss. I spent many years in public school before homeschooling and always had to get school lunch. A lot of the times, the cafeteria workers who prepare the food don't care much for their jobs, or they do, but they're so overworked that things get missed and you may get food that isn't cooked through all the way. (I got a chicken patty once that was still cold in the center). Also, there is no real nutritional value. The food is often high in fats and sugars, and it's all processed and frozen and reheated. . Some of it tasted okay in the older grades, but usually it's pretty bad, as government food tends to be. And because they're feeding so many kids the portions are often very small, or they will run out of something very fast and so some kids won't get a full lunch. If they did give homeschoolersfree school lunches, or even paid for school lunches though it may solve the problem of wasting whatever is left at the end of the day by throwing it away. That always made me sad.
If you're short on cash and need food, there are other services you can look into. With that many children you may be elegible for food stamps. To budget your money, and to make a creative math/economics/reading/life skills activity, you can take all your children (or just the older ones if you can't take them all, or alternate) to the supermarket at the start of each week and have them plan a lunch menu for the week. Give them a budget, let them survey their brothers and sisters and agree on a menu, then buy the things they need while staying within your set budget. If you want to add to the activity, have them prepare the lunches as well. It can be really fun and they will learn a lot from it.

RON PAUL! Naw, haven't seen his folks in a while and thought i would liven it up. From what they say I guess the conservative ones as I just saw on the 700 club how the germans are arresting parents and some Americans moved across the border to Austria and that was the only way to do it. Since everybody after the concert cheered for sen. Obamam, he may do the same thing here. As far as math how come the Obama people have like a 1-10 ratio in thumbs down and the conservtives ahve a 6-1 ratio, you would lthink they would be 10-1, So I think someof the Obama people think you should have home schooling two. I only did one thumbs up and that was for mjock cause he didn't hve any. I just don't know but suggest you pay a English teacher to help with spelling as it is hard to do it all. take care.

Um, no; is this a serious question? Think about it... "school" lunches means you've got to be IN school to get them. Free/reduced cost lunches are a federal program based on financial need and the last I knew this program was not extended to home-based learners.
Besides, you wouldn't want to let the government have a reason to visit your home. Nix the government freebies and grow your own. Makes for great homeschool experiences, BTW, and I know a family of 9 kids who homeschool and grow or hunt much of their own food.

Yes.
But, you have to place your order a day ahead of time. They will also serve you and your 8 children breakfast in bed.
They will not, however, provide dinner. There is legislation in the works to address this inequity. Please write your Congress person and urge them to vote YES on this important new law.
BTW: My answer is just as serious as the question.

No. Home education is the same as private education; the parents have to pay for everything.
PS we're a homeschooling family of 9 and it works very well (And, no, we're not religious!)

Yes. We're having pure cane sugar and corn syrup and soda and No Doze tablets for the next 3 months. I can think of no more suitable punishment for you than that.
