My cousin is being homeschooled by my mother, and my cousin needs to graduate this year. She needs another credit for english but she refuses to do literature, she's failing mythology and she's horrible at grammer. She reads book and does book reports and some other stuff and she needs one more credit, but she's clueless on how to get it. Any suggestions?

I was wondering if there are any homeschool alumni on here? I am (woot!) I would also like to extend an invitation to you (alumni) to join an online community of homeschool alumni. I will not post the link here, in hopes to avoid spammers, so send me a message if you're interested. And feel free to write any other (positive) stuff on here. No anti-homeschoolers please. Have a nice day! :D

I am because the school in my district is so bad my mother said she wouldn't send an animal there. I also want to graduate early. At this rate I should get my dilploma in about 9 months or maybe less. I do American School of Correspondence.
I have 7 brothers and sisters who are homeschooled, too. My three older brothers have graduated already.

So, why are you homeschooled? Do you have any siblings who are?

I'm not sure what I want to do?
I've been out of school now for as long as I was in...and I don't know what I want to do.

I'm only 15 but I feel like I'm throwing my life away. I spend all day inside playing computer games. I'm an introvert so that's my natural bent but this is really extreme. I don't do any academics; I have ADHD and no motivation, so nothing happens. When I tried to do the curriculum thing with my mom it failed miserably. We just fought and nothing got done. So I'm thinking I'd like to try school but I have two problems.

1) In my area, schools that aren't super high pressure and hard to get in to have no resources and have problems with violence and kids having sex in the hallways. I don't want to deal with that if I don't have to.

2) Stupid people don't get in to smart schools, and I'm stupid.

Is there any way to resolve this?

I should also add that it would be a long, uphill battle just to get my mom to be okay with the idea.

My mother has taken the liberty to enroll me in a Homeschool covering that basically allows her to teach me at home. This was fine when I was in the 3rd grade but I'm now in the 11th and she has stopped teaching me all together. I read text books, I take a few classes here and there in private classes, but my core curriculum is shot to bits.
So, I'm trying to prepare for college and I feel like I would do very well if I were in a conventional class room setting, I have just never asked my mom to enroll me in the public school system for fear of losing the credits I've earned, plus I only have one more year of highschool.
What would be the best way for me to get set for college in light of my schooling situation?
BTW I'm not a social outcast just because I'm homeschooled. I have more friends than some of you Yahoo!Answers loonies who stay on here all day, I promise. (College social life wont be a problem)

I keep reading responses by people who seem to think that being bullied is good for you, that it helps you for later in life, and that for that reason, you shouldn't be homeschooled.

Bullying is a form of abuse. http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/40002099/ Children who are bullied psychologically can have the same sort of symptoms of abuse as a child who is psychologically abused by a parent, including depression. Or a person who is psychologically abused by their spouse. When it gets physical, there's no difference between the physical abuse of a peer or the physical abuse of an adult toward a child--both hurt.

Would you tell an abused woman to stay in an abusive situation "because it'll help you learn how to deal with people like that"? Would you say that a child should stay in an abusive home because "it'll help them learn how to deal with people like that"?

How is bullying any different? Abuse is abuse.

I'm writing a college paprer about the myths about home schooling. And I can't think of a third point. So far I have the myth that home schoolers don't get their social needs met and that homeing isn't an effective way to educate children. Does any know of another common myth people have about home schooling? (one that I could prove to be not true)
