I have always been homeschooled because my parents wanted to raise their children right. My two older brothers went to public school when they were very young, and that was too much! We were all homeschooled after that (there are 6 natural-born, living children in my family) I am in college now, and from what the instructors tell me, I am the smartest, get the best grades, and have the best attitude of anyone in my classes. I am glad that you will get the chance to be homeschooled, it will probably be a very good experience for you. Don't let ANYONE put you down for it! You are awesome!

I was homeschooled because we moved to an area that was much bigger than my old area. Also, it was a very bad school district. I had two years left, but I finished in 9 months. I went through the American School of Correspondence. Now (until I figure out what I want to do with my life) I am taking a career course through Penn Foster.
My oldest sister was homeschooled through the public school's curriculum because she was picked on horribly, and the school wouldn't do anything about it because the kid picking on her was a dwarf.
And homeschoolers are not socially retarded. If people don't know what they are talking about, they should not comment.

I am. I'm 15 yrs old. I'm in year 12. I have a younger brother and sister who also do it. I have done home school since year 1, I have never been to a public school, and I wouldn’t go even if I was paid. (Even though over here in Australia, we don't have to worry about being shot) I can go on and on about all the benefits of doing home school, it's just the best! I am a Baptist Christian, but that does'nt make me a religious freak, and none of my friends think I am either. And we are looked down upon because we are homeschoolers???? Rubbish! Most public school kids are extremely jealous of me, my benefits, my schooling, and my IQ. We have loads of fun, we finish earlier, we are in a very clean environment, and we see enough of the world, to make us extra glad we're not like them. (And we live in a city of 2,00,000 people...not a little country town) Well, all I can say is that I am extremely happy that I have the best education available in this world today.
Thanks so much
Joash

My parents homeschool me for many reasons.
They want to be the ones teaching my my morals and manners, not the juvenile delinquent drug addicts at the public high schools.
They want us to be able to say prayers and grace before meals and wear crosses.
They want us to be at home with them and safe from rapists and shootings.
They want us to ACTUALLY LEARN SOMETHING, and not be required to stay at a grade level that is dumbed down to fit the masses of uneducated students! They want us to have good grammer, learn history and politics the way they REALLY are, and learn from people who are educated themselves!
I have 3 younger siblings who are as well. We have all been homeschooled always.
I enjoy it for many reasons, besides the ones above, like
1. There are tons of homeschool groups that have teen clubs, activities, weekly meetings, fieldtrips, and dances. Just do a search on "(insert your city) homeschool" and you will see. You will do much better with homeschooling, socially, and have most likely many more, truer friends. Homeschoolers are inclusive and friendly and there is no peer-pressure or rudeness. They'll never make fun of you.
2. Colleges love Homeschoolers for the simple reason that we are smarter! Look at this graph. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/image:homes... Here's the whole article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/homeschool... Plenty of homeschoolers I know have gone to those colleges. In general, homeschoolers can get into any college they want to, the same as any other schooler.
3. Many people that want to concentrate on something specific, like dance, riding, skating, or acting are homeschooled. Basically all the kid and teen movie stars are.
My answer was not only for you, but for all the stupid homeschooled bashers.

Just because the local high school has a 46% graduation rate, so that's terrible, and all of the private schools cost like, $10,000 a year. But, it's pretty fun, and for those people above me who answered that homeschooling is not social enough, read my other answers concerning homeschooling. Besides, listen to the names of the people who bash homeschooling. 'Queen of Necromancy'??? and that obese truck driver dude who probably works for a homeschooler and couldn't find a better job because the much smarter homeschoolers took that position before he got out of high school??? Please. They KNOW that homeschoolers are smarter, but they hate to admit it because that would show their own inadequacies. Ever checked the national spelling bee's participation rate? Only about 3% are homeschooled, 37% are homeschooled, and the rest are either unschooled or private schooled. (And the public schoolers drop out like flies, fast. Trust me, I've been there!) Anyways, unlike the public schoolers who can't come up with a reasonable answer and just blubber around trying to look cool and whatever, we homeschoolers know how to answer with INTELLIGENCE. The PS'ers don't even spell their own names right. Oh! That wasn't what you asked for. Sorry, my bad... Yes. I am homeschooled, and have two sisters in it also.

A lot of the previous answers are obviously made by people who talk about that which they do not know.
I homeschool my 3 year old daughter and plan to with my toddler when she is old enough. I HS because my DD is already on a Kindergarten level, I am just keeping up with her. By the time she is of age to attend school she will be 2 grade levels ahead. I do not want her to skip grades, talk about having social issues!
I have also considered the safety of schools in our area. This year alone four schools in our state have had 'issues' that have made the news. I can not imagine my five year old being in LOCK DOWN to keep her safe.
Of course you also have the fact that one person is trying to help 30 different children, with different learing styles and abilities, learn one concept in a 45 minute period.
Not to mention, bullies, drugs, sex, lack of spirituality, guns, and on and on and on.

I was homeschooled because of the same reason you were. My parents didn't want me being influenced by "bad" children. I do have other brothers and sisters that are homeschooled. I go to a high school now, but I was homeschooled throught grade school.

Good for you! You are already ahead of many others your age because your focus and commitment and maturity are apparent in how you express yourself. All my kids were homeschooled, got scholarships to universities, graduated magna *** laude, and one is getting PHD, one is a senator, another was student body president and now a banker. All are well-rounded and charismatic people, have good life skills and are great adults. This was how people were educated years ago before public schools came along. You are in great company, Einstein was homeschooled, and a more contemporary couple - Will Smith and Jada Pinket-Smith homeschool their children to give them the best education for life. Congrats!

I am homeschooled because I wanted to be,nobody forced me. The kids were treating me like crap and beating me up.The teachers didn't do anything about it,so they started homeschooling me. For those who say homeschooling is boring, and isolates the kids from other kids their age,I would say that's not true. I go to a Homeschool group and we do activities like art, music, field trips, and even plays.I don't get lonely or anything like that.
