reasons not relating to the test

Examples:

You felt uncomfortable around him so you took the test in the library.
You wrote "wildcats sucks" to be funny and he is obsessed with that team.(this one isn't true)

I recently graduated with a master's in education at Wollongong University (in Australia) and was interested to find that their academic gown is blue! (as shown in the picture of me below)

I was wondering if anyone knows which university the blue originated from. I am also interested in knowing why some universities choose colours other than black (besides it being a dark boring colour). Is there a historical reason?

If I am self-motivated and read and write a lot, would there be any value of going for an M.F.A. in writing considering it's pretty worthless in terms of getting jobs, costs loads of money, and I feel I am objective enough to improve my writing on my own?

I have a bunch of recent college textbooks I don't need anymore. I'm thinking of selling them on half.com or ebay. When is the best time to sell them since most people buy them just before a semester starts, like august, september or june? Is that when I should list them, and is half.com the best place?

I was browsing here, and found the earlier question about what Harvard looks for. Most of the people who replied said they wanted famous people, or people with famous parents, or people who had families of Harvard alumni. I'm willing to believe that the bit about being famous is an exaggeration, but hasn't Harvard got a reputation for its academic quality? Why would they look at anything past grades and extracurriculars?

If my question seems dumb, excuse my ignorance; I am a highschool freshman attending a public highschool, and aiming for an Ivy League school or the equivalent. My family isn't rolling in dough; to put it briefly, how many middle-class students actually get accepted into Ivy-type schools?
