I have a bunch of recent college textbooks I don't need anymore. I'm thinking of selling them on half.com or ebay. When is the best time to sell them since most people buy them just before a semester starts, like august, september or june? Is that when I should list them, and is half.com the best place?

I used half.com to buy my textbooks when I was in school, but you might also want to check out collegebookstore.com for a listing of other websites that allow you to sell textbooks.
The best time to list textbooks is July-September for the fall semester and/or December-January for the spring semester. Summer classes start in May-June - so you could also try then.

Exactly what you wrote, sometimes students even get a head start on buying their books because they are so expensive these days. Give someone you know a great deal, or else invest in the future and sell them to people that want them and not the book store.

I always use Textbook411.com they buy them direct for cash and pay a lot more than my college bookstore, and I dont have to wait around for someone who needs the book like with ebay or amazon! And they buy them year round too. I think its best to sell your books asap though, becasue they loose value as new editions are published. ( Textbook411 is also a great place to buy your books... I LOVE IT!!!)

Before the start of a new college term - in the UK new university students start their courses in Sept/Oct so you should start selling them in August...

well some of those websites are great to sell them, but if u got them at ur campus bookstore, you should sell those back there, especially during finals week when they're worth more to get money back...
