Contrary to popular belief, exams are NOT neccessary. The true purpose of school is to learn, not to get good grades. This may be hard for some people to believe, but in high school, I failed many classes. I failed to prove a point...Even though I failed, I was often the student with the best understanding of any material covered. Exams are NOT needed! Wouldn't you agree? Is the true purpose of school to learn, or prove that you learned?

Technically, they're not necessary. They're only there to provide an easy to understand way of figuring out which students know a certain amount of material.

For employers or graduate schools, they usually have so many applicants, they don't have time to have a lengthy interview with you to figure out what you know. So, they look for exams which give grades. Easy to compare applicants.

If you don't need a traditional employer or grad school, you don't need exams. Working for yourself, etc. Don't need exams for that.

If you're looking for a regular job, failing on purpose is counterproductive. The world does not revolve around you. It only shows you're either too self absorbed or naive (and still self absorbed) to think you're actually proving any relevant point. If you want to change the world, come up with solutions, not useless examples.
