I am a software engineer and am thinking of pursuing my MBA from the US. Can someone please tell me what would be the best specialization if I would still like to be involved with information technology after my MBA ? I am seriously not interested in finance, marketing or operations.

Considering your software(SW) background, there are many jobs at the intersection of Finance and SW, Marketing research and SW and ofcourse as shown by Walmart Operations and SW.

If you want to stay in a purely SW role, an MBA might not be the right thing for you. However, if you want to keep your roots in SW, you can go to any of the product management/marketing roles after an MBA but your use of the MBA skill set will be limited. I would also suggest consulting, where you can gain more exposure to different industries.

A pure role in SW would be Information systems after an MBA, large companies like Toyota, Citi, GE etc, prize these roles.

Hope this helps

There is a big trend towards emphasis in health care management. You can work anywhere from a hospital to insurance to nursing home work to private markets (like home health). The population is aging, and there is a lot out there you could do with this.
