I know every body tells you to go to college. What i have notticed is two things.
One
That it is hard to pay for college.I can not get a schlorship or grants. While if you get a loan, you may be paying for it for a while like my friends.
Second
I know some people that when they do get a degree they either work in what they did not even major in, or they still end up working at a crappy job because they can not find any jobs.

I am a college student studying to become a nurse. Therefore, I can't afford to sacrifice my precious time to work and make money during the school year. I do not have classes during the summer and wish to get a good paying job to save up and pay my loans faster. I know this is a personal question but I don't come from a family who are college-bred. I'm actually the first one to go to college in my immediate family. Do you think being 45,000 in debt in school loans after graduation (BA in nursing w/ RN degree) is a little steep. I do have a job lined up for me right after graduation, which is nice.

My step daughter, while not technically my husbands biological child (he raised her for 20 of her 21 years), has been attending college. Her financial aid is based on her mother and step fathers income which is too much for her to recieve financial aid. Yet her mother and her step father have do nothing to help her financially for the last 3 years in college. We have tried to help her out where we can, but we also have three other children to take care of living at home, so there isn't much extra these days. I know there is a way for her to claim herself as self supporting. However, we can't get that information from the college and my research thus far has led me nowhere fast. She doesn't live at home and has no children. My question, can someone explain the steps for applying for financial aid as self supporting even though you have no children of your own?

The college I really want to go to is $50,000 a year, and others like it are in the same price range. I have absolutely no money for college though. I have no kind of college fund, and if I get a job and start saving it's still going to be very little. Are there programs that can help people who really need money like me, or am I going to forget my dreams and settle for a community college?

Also, I don't think I can win any scholarships. They just say, "Write an essay," without giving you any idea of where to start. I can't work with that.

I finished 4 years of high school but didn't receive a diploma because I failed a test. I do have a certificate stating I finished 4 years of High School. I'm 47 years old and I work as a receptionist in a law firm for about 9 years. Now I would like to go to school and continue my education as legal secretary or paralegal or real estate. Is it crazy for me to go back to school now?
