Your question is a little vague, so I'm going to try to cover all the bases. First off, for that kind of money, you're going to need to have a nearly perfect GPA, stellar test scores, and a list of extracurriculars about three miles long. I'm not trying to discourage, I'm just not sugarcoating the facts.

If you're a high school senior, then you need to get your college app in NOW, along with whatever college scholarship application materials are required. These applications are generally due, in the hands of the university by DEC. 31! Also make sure your family's FAFSA is submitted by the end of January. (This will require the 2007 tax return, so get it finished early!!) There are state and federal programs that are need-based, and the FAFSA form is how tuition assistance is determined. Get a copy of the form from your guidance office.

If you're already in college, it's a little hard to get a scholarship from within. Check with your department head about internal scholarship opportunities. Check with your bursar for applications for university or federal grants. If these actions are not viable, you will need to consider student loans.

If you are attending college part time or through night school, then research state and federal government grants for working students. Again, these are generally need-based and the level of assistance is determined through the FAFSA. This form can be obtained from your bursar's office.

If you are in a graduate program, then you should consider a research assistantship or teaching assistantship program. If you are working and attending graduate school, discuss tuition reimbursement or tuition payment with your employer. If they will only reimburse, then take out a student loan from Sallie Mae to be repaid when your employer reimburses you at the end of the term.
