If I win a $5,000 dollar scholarship before I am admitted to a University (average $15,000), will I get less financial aid?

Currently, I'm attending a local community college. As we all know community college financially, is reasonable in comparison to a University. My question is, do I apply to different types of scholarships BEFORE I apply to several different Universities or do I do so AFTER I am accepted? Or should I begin now?

I hope that made sense, looking for some good responses!

I'm a sophmore. Last year (Freshman year), i didn't do so well in school. I finished with a 2.6 gpa. But this first semester was worse. I've failed Civics(Honors) and i'm pretty sure that i've got a lower gpa than a 2.0.

But, if i work hard next semester and make all A's (I've droped Honors Civics and am going to regular class for Free Enterprise) and not make anymore grades below a B until I graduate, do i still have a chance of getting a good scholarship and going to a good University? Has anyone else had this happen?

I have a need to put my children all under age 4 in a provate religious school and was told there are goverment grants out there to help fund the costs. I've tried researching it, but havent found anything that deals with private school or religious school funding. Also, havent found anywhere that doesnt want to charge you just to find out the details of the grants.

Where can I search for accurate and free grant applying services?

Any information you can provide is much, much appreciated!!!!

I know it's beneficial to apply at the start of the year, but can I apply that early if I cant begin taking classes again until Summer or maybe even the Fall semester?

My husband and I live in a bad neighborhood with our one year old son. We don't have the money to get out right now. I've been told that the Gov't has special programs for people like us trying to get a home. Also, we want him to go back to school. What kind of scholarships are out there?

But the schools range from $1500 a month to $400 a day! Do you know where i can find a grant that may help cover his school expenes?
