plenty of options...

first, make sure she applies for as many scholarships as possible, local ones give the best chances.

also, loans are a possibility, and if she gets good grades and a good job, she can pay them off later in life...

or she can start off going to a community college and take the core classes before going to a large university.

there are many options for people with financial issues, usually the college will help.

theres also federal aid...have her ask her HS counselor for more info on all that.

There is even "free money" for families in your situation:

According to the National Adoption Information Clearinghouse's website at http://www.calib.com/naic/ ...

Some states including Florida, New Jersey, Maine, Texas, and Virginia have scholarship programs for children adopted through their state foster care systems. To find out if your state has a similar program, contact your State Adoption Specialist.

The Orphan Foundation of America scholarship program has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to foster and former foster youth. For more information, visit http://www.orphan.org or call (571) 203-0270.

The National Foster Parent Association also provides awards for foster youth. Get an application by visiting http://www.nfpainc.org or by calling (800) 557-5238.

ACTUALLY, listen to me because i am going through this right now.. I'm a first time freshman in college.. PLEASE! ENCOURAGE her to fill out scholarship applications and essays now while she is in her senior year... NOW.. there is financial aid that she can receive. it's diff depending on the state you live in how to fill that out but her school has all of that information at hand. depending on her GPA she can get funding from her high school. AND must i add that once your in college they have so much funding for you that their so willing to hand out... you've just got to ask! my tuition is $20,000... i attend a private school and i did not have to come out of pocket at all!
also if she played any sports or was in any clubs the schools will also give you money for that too!
but try fastweb.com it's excellent for scholarships..
if your a member of a church... some offer scholarships! my good friend received 10,000 from hers, for being a member for 2 years!
ANOTHER THING! ... just leave LOANS as your last resort! only if you have no other options!
and also look LOCALLY... clubs in your area.. like the kiawanis club is in my area.... your city hall may have something too! sorry i so keep adding to this post! she can get scholarship for coming from a single parent home..and for being adopted you just so have to look and also scholarships depending on the major she chooses!
