I am an 52 year old electrical engineer. I thought about what to do after I retire, and I came upon an idea that I want to teach at the University level. So I started a PH.D program this semester, but I am not sure how realistic my dream is. When I complete the Ph.D program, I'll be 56 years old (if I am lucky, since I am still working full time as an engineer). I want to start teaching as a lecturer for another 5 years part time (56 to 61), then I retire at my company and continue to teach for next 10 - 12 years as a full time professor. Is this realistic plan or am I a complete nuts dreaming a pipe dream? Do Universities hire 56 - 61 years old people to begin with? Can I become a professor at the age of 61 or 62?

Well I have only just become a Freshman in highschool. The first marking period has almost passed nd I am starting to wonder more about what'll have to be of me in order to be able to get into top universities like MIT or HARVARD.

Grades, I can work hard on. I am in the best classes for Freshman, and actually, I have skipped a grade in math so I work with sophmores. I will definately play tennis and always do track... And I will do volunteering for things that I strongly am passionate about. I am in math, chess, debate, and a talanted/gifted club.

I do not know what is most important for these schools that I can work on to be admitted. It is indeed important that I display strong passion torwards something and provide a great sense of personality, but how? How important are grades?

I just don't know anything and it's troubling me~~

Ok so christmas is coming up and I have four great teachers I want to make presents for? My mum is mega crafty so ever since pre-school it's been kinda tradition to make my teachers a present like a christmas ornament. One year I made this teacher who loved earrings a pair of earrings and she wore them to graduation! Does anyone have any ideas for homemade gifts for teachers? Just for your info I am giving gifts to 4 teachers and I am in highschool.

Also for any teachers out there, when a student writes a card and gets all mushy saying how they think you're the best teacher ever and stuff do you get uncomfertable and creeped out? Or do you find it sweet? I never know how much to write on a teachers card. Should it be kept to a simple "Merry Christmas" or can I tell these teachers how much I love their lessons and how great I think they are and get a little more personal/mushier?

Thankyou, any help would be appreciated.

I'm a freshman at a university and I am doing my pre-reqs for pharmacy school. It's midterms right now and my GPA is a 3.6 i know its not that good but it will be better by finals. But i have been hearing discouraging news about the timetable to apply and complete pharmacy school. Before my interest in becoming a pharamcist I wanted to be a doctor but it takes a lot of time and it seems to stressful and i don't know if i can be in a postition to determine if someone is terminally ill or theyre dying so i thought pharmacist still helps people but without being solely relied upon. But now i'm hearing that pharmacy school is 6 years? and if i want my B.Science thats 4 years plus 6 years thats 10 years.. which makes me reconsider being a doctor because it gets me thinking not everyone is BORN to be a doctor... everyone is apprehensive about diagonsing someone with sicknesses. and becoming a family doctor is 12 years right including undergrad right? Correct me if i have misunderstood somth

“How you are fallen from heaven,
O Day Star, son of Dawn!
How you are cut down to the ground,
you who laid the nations low!
You said in your heart,
‘I will ascend to heaven;
above the stars of God
I will set my throne on high;
I will sit on the mount of assembly
in the far reaches of the north;
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High.’
But you are brought down to Sheol,
to the far reaches of the pit.
