There are many controversial topics and here are a few suggestions. You'll need to do your own research though, how else would you learn otherwise.

Vegetarianism, is it healthier than meat eating?

Are we right to bring 'Civilisation' to 'Uncivilised' people.?

If we break the Biblical Commandment 'Thou shalt not kill' by being a soldier and being ordered to kill an enemy does it make it OK?

If we smack a naughty child how hard must it be before being considered mistreating by violence?

Should adopted children have the right to know who their biological parents are?

Should illegal immigrants be automatically deported and, if so, to which country if they refuse to identify their origins?

Should we boycott multinational companies like McDonalds and othersfor their exploitation of their workforce?

If free speech means 'Free Speech' should we still criticise people for supporting communism?

In occupied countries like Iraq should we describe the people fighting the occupying forces as 'insurgents' (Which is how the government and media call them) or freedom fighters (Which is what they call themselves)?

I think the 2 main issues in schools right now is prayer in class and birthcontrol given to students.

Prayer: although good intentions, it may offend other people, for ex: why should I be forced to pray to a deity I dont even subscribe to? Why shouldnt they be praying to say.. buddah or the gods/goddesses?

BirthControl: recently made available for students in middle school in one N.E. town. Apparently the stats show that teen pregnancy is on the rise, its not a new thing and nothing has been changed, ample opportunity has been given to try to change this but nothing has and since parents havent stepped up, the schools decided to do SOMETHING about it, thus, giving it to students who have been given a physical.

Both these issues are hot button issues with pros and cons on BOTH side of the coin, however, I would stress that with education comes enlightenment and just by saying "you cant do it" will not give the desired effect. people need answers and options, not threat of punishment...

good luck!
