Ok, Im from the West Coast and applied to the an East Coast university. Do I have some advantage because the university is looking for geographical diversity??

Thats what I heard, that universities from the East like students from the West and that Universities from the West like students from the East.

You think its true?

I want to get into UIC. My GPA is 3.57 but......my ACT score is 19 (I really don't know why). I would take the ACT again to get a better score, but I want to apply early so they can see that I'm interested in getting into their university. I want to study software engineering concentration. Do you think I can get accepted into UIC? please tell me what my chances are.

Should I go to a four-year university with a film program or go to strictly film school? I'd like to go to the best/most affordable. I've been involved with filmmaking since I was 8 years old. I'm now 20. Please take a look at this link: "www.youtube.com/goatworthy" View the featured video on the channel. I'm very familiar with filmmaking, but based on this info...what do you think? Katrina came and washed away everything here 100% in St. Bernard Parish (adjacent to NOLA). Should we go to film school, a four-year university offering it, or try and stir things up on our own? We'd like the best and most affordable...possible scholarship...

I've always wanted to be a doctor but now i'm questioning if i can survive so much schooling. I'm really interested in marketing and i've read that some marketing positions can even make as much as a doctor and they dont have so much stress and school. In your opinion which is the better choice.

It's from apocalypse now:
"I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. That's my dream. That's my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight... razor... and surviving."

Why does he say this?

On next Monday I am going to start a new semester at High School as an English Teacher.

Unfortunately, I did not have any resources to plan my first week... this was due to several factors, including null support from school authorities and the English Department. Anyway, I need to focus on my next move.

I will have two groups:

1) One of first semester students (1st time they take this course) Average Age: 16

2) The other of third semester students (they have been in this course for one year) Average Age: 17

In both cases, the English level is ADVANCED, and they will be prepared to take the CAE of Cambridge University.

I have found out a warmer already for my first semester group (this will last one day) but I do not what to do during the rest of the week with both groups, meanwhile I am waiting for my teacher’s book as well as the students receive theirs.

Any ideas about what to do during my first week? I will appreciate any help.

Thank you.

I have been going to my school for 9 years and so I am pretty well known there. Unfortunately, it's not in a good way. I don't have the prettiest face and my mother is the cafeteria lady and also the "crazy ice lady" because she used to chew ice all the time, so I automatically am unpopular. I literally only have one friend at school because my other friend had to leave the school. The one that's left is great and I will be okay even though it's only her and me, but its the other people that bother me.

The one that I have the most trouble with is who I'll call "Alex." He enjoys teasing me by saying that he slaughters horses with his uncle for a hobby (it's illegal now muahaha, Alex!) and saying other equally mean things. He is coming back this year and I will have to deal with him a lot more because I have his lunch period. How should I treat him when he tries to tease me? Should I ignore him or should I get a teacher to intervene (now that horse slaugher is illegal muahaha, Alex!)?

Okay so the last question i asked...it needed more details.
Lets say this.
A teacher doesnt necisarilly has a....'crush'...on the student, but enjoys their company, likes their personality. Maybe if the student was older, they would be the sort of person they would date, but wouldnt think about it because of the law ect. [and yes they keep their thoughts to themselves and only sees the student as a friend]
No i am not writing a book haha, but its always been something that ive wonderd.
I dont think my teacher has a crush on me either, although we are very good mates out of school as well as in school.
Same sort of personality and we like the same things, hes good looking yes, but i have a boyfriend and he is happily married, but ive just been curious and would like to hear any stories ect about likeing 'personalities' [nothing illeagal.]
You hear about students likeing teachers..now i think its time to hear the teachers side of things!! =P
