Metals were used in jewelry such as gold, silver & copper.
And also for weapons: swords, knives, points on arrows.
Household items: teapots, some dishes were made of gold for the royals.
Religious items: statues, bells, gongs, musical implements.

Metallurgy is the science of working with metals. In layman's terms it is the body of recipes and techniques for making metals with different properties.

Civilizations are often classifed by what material they used to make their best tools and weapons. Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, etc. Ban Chiang is famous for having Bronze Age artifacts from about 2000 BC.

Bronze is a combination of copper and tin. Bronze is superior to iron in many ways, though it is not stronger than steel. Bronze is actually superior to steel in certain respects, so that certain small machine parts and automotive parts are made of bronze to this day.
