First of all, if the campus tells you they don't want you to have a car on campus, that is a sign that they really don't want you to have one that you keep off campus either. They would prefer that freshmen spend most of their time on campus, rather than being distracted by things off-campus. Secondly, owning a car is expensive. I don't know about your school, but when I was in school (admittedly a while ago), I didn't know many freshmen who could afford to maintain a car. It was pretty much a trade-off between tuition and a car.

Parking on campus is very limited, and parking off campus can be expensive or unsafe. Many freshman either don't need, can't afford, or can't store a car near campus.

Parking can be expensive at college. Also, many college freshmen don't have vehicles yet because they can't afford one yet. A lot of colleges also don't even allow freshman to have cars on campus, only the upper classman.

because most of them can't afford a car, most campuses have everything you need on campus, you'd have to walk off campus to your car if you parked it off campus, and it's dangerous to park your car where you won't easily be able to check if it's safe.

im not sure what you are meaning, but if you mean around campus, they are smart and dont want to harm the ozone any more than they have to.. plus they could want to stay healthy by walking or biking... or if it is in a bigger population place, they might find it cheaper to take a bus where they are going..

If you live on campus everything is in walking distance.
Don't you like to walk?

because usually juniors and seniors are the only ones who are allowed to have parking spots, since spaces are limited. its done by seniority.
