I'm assuming that if people actually went through a Psy.D program, they wouldn't make these negative comments? Or do you think there is a legit reason to look down on Psy.D's?

After researching on people's negative comments about the Psy.D, it seems to me that only setback is that the programs don't provide funding and that they might be too expensive.

I just went to the APA site to check out job postings for clinical psychologists, and they are welcoming both Psy.D's and Ph.D's...even at Yale. Why do people say that Psy.D's don't get the same jobs?

Other than that, the training for the Psy.D is at least 5 years, many programs are APA-accredited, the training is rigorous, and there IS still a focus on research...even though a large part of the program is dedicated to clinical skills.

Anybody agree or disagree? I'm by no means putting the Ph.D down either, nor am I saying that the Psy.D is superior. I just don't understand why some people look down on it.

I live in Chicago and I have an Associate's Degree in Fashion and I'm working on getting my Bachelor's Degree in Fashion and Retail Management. I've always wanted to work in retail. Right now I would like to find part time a position as a sales associate. It's always taken forever for me to find any type of job and I always ended up working in fast food or overnight inventory or something. Even with those jobs it took me like 9 months to 1 year to find a job. I've applied at too many places to count and just can't get into the retail business. I'm starting to think I should quit school because I think it's a waste of time and money to go to school for something that it's impossible to even get an entry level position in. If I can't get a job as a sales associate, I definately will never get hired as a manager. I'm thinking that the time I've spent in school so far has probably been a waste. Any suggestions? Could it be the job market in Chicago?

I am positive i chose the right college, I absolutely love it and i got an AMAZING scholarship. But lately i have been having second thoughts, like maybe I should wait a year before going and travel, or work, or volunteer locally. Like REALLY nervous, I don't know why. Is it normal for 6 weeks before you leave for college to be worried and not wanting to go anymore?

I play golf and people say I am very good at it and I have a choice of going to a college in Boston with a full golf scholarship, and then my future would be sorted. The college would be Harvard or Boston College but I do not have very good grades and I am scared I could not keep up with the work. And I don't like golf as much as soccer. But I want to go to college in California probabley USC and hopefully get a scholarship there, but I have very little chance in getting it. So what do I pick????? HELP

If somethins is shaped like a circle, it's circular. Same with rectangular, triangular, etc. But what about pentagon and octogon, hexagon, etc?
At least with square, you can say "It's square." You can't say "It's pentagon."
So what's the word I'm looking for? I'm prety sure it isn't pentagonular.

Did you know that the individual considered the "architect of the personal computer" is a Black man? Dr. Mark Dean holds three of the original nine patents on the computer that all PCs are based upon. You may not have heard of Dr. Mark Dean. But almost everything in your life has been affected by his work.

On 6 July 1971, Dr. Sampson invented the "gamma-electric cell", which pertains to Nuclear Reactor use. This invention produces stable high-voltage output and current to detect radiation in the ground. The gamma-electric cell made it possible to send and receive audio signals via radio waves without wires; therefore, Henry Sampson has also been credited as the inventor of a cell phone.
