1) Does the negative reciprocal (perpendicular) of a vertical line = a horizontal line?

2) I'm supposed to find the point of intersection of two lines with these equations:
y= x^3 - 4x (verbally: x cubed minus four x) and
y= - (x+2) (aka y= - x - 2 )

I understand that we're supposed to set the equations equal to each other and solve for x, but I still can't figure it out. I end up with x^3 - 3x - 2 = 0 and I don't know where to go from there. I try factoring out an x but that doesn't get me anywhere...

3) This problem I can't figure out. It goes something like this:
"Show that the line with intercepts (a,0) and (0,b) has the following equation:
"x/a + y/b = 1" where "a" and "b" do not equal 0.
(verbally: x over a plus y over b equal one)

I tried putting the points in the point slope form: y-b = -b/a(x-0) and end up with x/a + -ay / bx = 1. Close but not dice...

Any and all help is appreciated! Thank you

I will be attending Cleveland State University this coming fall on a full ride in academics for a major in Accouning. I was just doing some research and discovered that it is a tier-4 college. Is this going to play a huge factor with my success in finding a job out of college? Is it bad to go to a tier-4 school?

Hi,
I have a degree from outside the US (I live in the US now). I would like to apply to the medical school and I have two questions (university advisors don't always respond and some are NASTY with foreign students). My degree was in biology. I am familiar with most medical school req but have the following questions:

1) Will it be a problem that I have an international degree esp when filling the AAMC application or any step in the application process? Anyone with a similar experience?

2) About recommendation letters...what do you do if you can get a letter from someone (job or courses) now but plan to apply in 2 or 3 years? You can't always keep in contact with them and you can't garantee they will remember you when its time to apply. Is there a service or something in the AAMC website or your target university to keep your letters on file until you complete your application?

Thanks...

Do I go with a school that I already know is terribly managed but they give me the freedom to teach how I like and its a course I like and am good at (TESOL - teaching methodology). Its in a city that I'm familiar with but I don't really want to live there.

Or do I go with a new school that seems to have its business act together, is well organized but they insist that I wear a tie (and perhaps other constraints). I hate wearing ties when I teach. (the tie itself isn't such a big deal but its symbolic of control issues) This school is in a nicer smaller city that I think I would enjoy more overall.

Do a research paper on the successful and/or unsuccessful application of organizational behavior concepts in any organization. Many organizations use organizational behavior concepts, but not all organizations publicize their methods for success or missteps to embarrassing failures. Select an organization for which a good amount of research has been conducted and has been made publicly available. I chose Southwest Airlines, give publicize method for success or misstep to embarrassing failure.

"Consider the fearful danger you are in; it is a great furnace of wrath, a wide and bottomless pit, full of the fire of wrath, that you are held over in the hand of that God, whose wrath is provoked and incensed as much against you, as against many of the damned in Hell. You hang by a slender thread, with the flames of divine wrath flashing about it, and ready every moment to singe it, and burn it asunder; and you have no interest in any mediator, and nothing to lay hold of to save yourself, nothing to keep off the flames of wrath, nothing of your own, nothing that you ever have done, nothing that you can do, to induce God to spare you.... The sovereign pleasure of God, for the present, stays his rough wind; otherwise it would come like a whirlwind, and you would be like the chaff of the summer threshing floor."
