if you are take the third root of both sides to get:
x= 17^(1/3)

17 to the one-third power, and that is your answer

You could also solve with logarithms

x^3 = 17

3 log x = log 17

log x = (log 17)/3

log x = 0.4101496

take the anti log

x = (0.4101496)^10

x ≈ 2.571
