This is a question that's in my geography exam review.
"Canada has had very good relationships with many countries for a very long time. Why is it important for Canada to maintain good relations with other countries?"
Any help? I want at least a 90 on this exam.

If a country has good relations with others, then it benefits majorly in the way that

- It has good trade with other countries since they are on good terms

- Slighter chance of war

-Better communication

- If threatened by any other country, it has others to aid them

If you look at Canada for example, it has been a very stable country, because of this.

there are many reasons:
1. trade, trade laws can get tricky but if the countries are friends they are that little bit easier.
2. protection, making enemies with a nuclear superpower is not the wisest thing for a country to do. by being friends they are a little bit less likely to be blown up.
3. military support, there are many examples of this, the most recent is the war in iraq. america says lets have a war but realise they don't have the manpower so they call up their friends to help them out. this has been going on for ages ie 2nd world war, australia was invaded by japan. australia had sent 99% of its troops to europe so the government were powerless. they called england but england was too busy, so the aussies decided to split the country in 2, until their american buddies showed up and kicked the japanese back to japan.
4.financial support, i don't know how much this one will relate to canada, but when there is some kind of disaster (natural or otherwise) a country can ask its friends for cash.

um that all i can think of
hope they help
