Education & Reference - 20 March 2007

I can't decide what to major in when I go to a University, and what I decide to do in live will have a deep impact on where I want to attend college.

My interests are:
Law - I like finding out information, arguing my point, helping people, etc. Or Paralegal?

Psychology - Not the 'sit on a couch, tell me your problems' psychologist, but more of the psychologist who studies neurological disorders, treatments, etc.

There's other things I'm interested in. Obviously I'd like a career that could make me good money, but it doesn't have to be $180 an hour or anything.

There's no right or wrong answers, I just want suggestions!

Any ideas?

I took the I leap test last year and made Basic on both parts, I usually have mastery in english. This really upset me. But this year i am taking the GEE test. I looked at the score levels and I made like a 360 on the I leap, that would have been mastery on the I Leap, the score levels haven't changed have they?

I recently registered for University orientation and on the day i registered for, the time was from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM. I am new to university life and i would appreciate if someone could plz tell me why orientation takes so many hours and what do i do there? PLz explain what is is exactly and what is its purpose and does it confirm my registration to the university or do i have to register at a different time. yes i am already accepted to this university i just need to know info. about orientation plz?

I'm doing a Psychology degree at the moment, but don't know what I need to do to become a child psychologist once my degree is complete.

I've been on a couple of websites but it's all really confusing!

Do I need a masters, further training and experience with children? And if so how do I know which of these to choose?

I'm in the UK by the way...

I'm a sophomore in High School, and recently some annoying punk who never does his own work kept bugging me to do his 100 point project, as well as my own, which i hadnt yet finished. So, i changed a few things around, but all in all, the 2 projects looked VERY similar, I turned it in, and got caught, now my teacher is sayin i might get a 0 on it, but she has 2 talk bout it 2 administrator, or someone like that.The only reason I did this was 2 prevent a fight, bec/ i have a clean record, and wasnt about to have a HS fight on there, and if i had told someone, this punk would still have foughtme.I have proof i did ALL the work, its still on my computer n i cud and will print it out as proof i did it. I'm really stressed out about this, and dont know how to keep my grade to what it originally should have been, if the admin. decids to gimme a 0. I'm looking to go back to school to be a teacher, there is no way I am able to quit my day job and the only possible way for me to really get a degree is to go to online classes. University of Phoenix seems like an awesome way to go, but I have heard both good and bad about it, but really haven’t spoken to anyone who has attended or maybe is an expert on colleges. My daughter is in the first grade in an excelerated elementary school. She was academically tested before being accepted in kidergarten. The school advised us now that they will not offer her a position in second grade next year. Their justification is that my daughter does not work fast enough in the class. She however, scores high in reading comprehension and math tests. She reads at above grade level.

All private schools in our area have completed enrollement and are full. Admission process starts around January and ends in March.

I think it is very inconsiderate of the school to let us know this late. However, life is not fair and I may not have any recourse but to send my daughter to public school next year.

My question: Do I have any legal rights to make the school give my daughter a place in second grade next year? Are there any suporting laws or cases? (We are in California)

I am currently a 4th grade teacher, but my administrator believes I "will be more of an asset with my strengths" in 3rd grade next year. Anyway, I'm trying to plan ahead and get very familiar with the LA content over the summer.

So far, I plan to take the LA Units/TE home this summer; compile the released SOL tests from the last few years for 3rd Gr. LA; and talk with our LA specialist about what I should look for in 3rd grade writing.

What else can I do (from your own teaching experience) to better prepare to teach LA all day to two classes? And no, I can't change my assignment... he wants us to teach it this way, so that's not an option. I just need advice in bringing up their SOL scores in the classroom... typically for some reason, our school's third grades do exceedingly well in Math SOLs, but not LA. "No one" seems to know why, but with half the grade level's scores on my shoulders alone, I need help!! Thanks!
