I'd like to know if there's any difference between "to care for someone" and " to care about someone." If there is or are differences between these two usages, what are they? Thanks a lot for your help. I really appreciate it.

My 14 year old son has just been excluded from school for 10 days. Without going into a lot of detail he was verbally abusive to a teacher. Now i dont condone this behaviour and he has been reprimanded by myself. But surely being excluded for 10 days is like a holiday to him he will love it. Both parents at work sat at home on msn or the xbox. I think that teachers nowadays are far to keen to exclude children instead of giving them punishment that is appropriate to the behaviour.

When my son goes back to school and is a bit bored with the lessons, all he has to to do is be cheeky to the teacher and hey presto another 10 days holiday......

Just wondering what other peoples oppinions are on this..

Does anyone know how many "servings" we should eat in a day total (of all foods)? Of that total, how many servings of each category of foods (meat, fish, veggies, fruits, grains) should be eaten? If you answer in terms of ounces of food or calories - please convert to "servings" -- i.e. what is a "serving"?

This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious as to just how quickly you
can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so ordinary and plain
that you would think nothing was wrong with it. In fact, nothing is
wrong with it! It is highly unusual though. Study it and think about it,
but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit,
you might find out. Try to do so without any coaching!

My 10th grade honors English students have been researching different world cultures and must present their information in children's book form, in a way that children will understand. 20% of the grade is style, but that includes appealing to the young audience with storyline AND wording as well as the illustrations.

Many are concerned because they are not artists. I have told them they may recombine images from online, magazines, etc. so the images are their own, but some have asked if they could have others draw pictures for them. I'm considering it, as long as the students also provide a rough sketch of what they want their friends to draw to show the ideas were theirs (plus they have to give credit to the illustrator).

The point is really the research and the writing, and the pictures have more to do with the "publishing" and presentation aspect. So is it fair for them to farm out the illustrating?

I recently answered a question asking what the term for a black person was, and answered that the word was 'Negro', as opposed to 'Caucasian for white people, and possibly 'Mongoloid' for Oriental people. I promptly received a Violation Notice, presumably for using the word negro. My answer was almost word for word as above, without a hint of anything racist, so I can only conclude that the offending item was the use of the word above! Can someone please help
me to figure out why this word has suddenly become offensive?
