Depending on the college you would like to attend you should look there first. If its a university a lot of scholarships are granted depending on your gpa.. or sat scores. Colleges also have scholarships where they require you to write an essay.. if you didnt do well in high school or college... you should look into financial aid thru the government. If your income is low. below is the free application for financial aid

Check out http://www.ScholarshipExperts.com Its a great start for seeing which awards you are eligible for based on your location, your major, intended school(s), and intended career.
The best awards to look for are the local and state ones since they will have less overall competition. The more specific the eligibility requirements are, the better your chances!
