My child was attacked on a school bus for a student in the same grade, but different class. We advised the school, but were told that they were not responsble for what happens on a school bus. Is that true? I would still think that they should take some measures to deal with the student.

Hello there. Does anyone have any tips to wake up early besides getting an alarm/sleeping early/etc? I'm studying for a test right now, and I mostly stay up late to study (I sleep around 1-2 am in the morning). I need to wake up early in order to have enough time to study again. I've tried everything from alarm clocks to telling my grandfather to wake me up. Nothing works - I just go back to sleep!! I end up waking late and studying less than I hoped I would!

Please help; I'd really appreciate it! Tips or suggestions are more than welcome.

I just read an article saying nearly 40% of adults in D.C. are functionally illiterate. It went on to say that, nationally, 21% of adults are functionally illiterate.

Yet, when I say education should be the nation's number one priority I am dissed. Doesn't anybody agree with me that this is unacceptable? How on earth will the U.S. compete when a fifth of its adult population can't read or write to 2nd grade level?

I have moved to the US a year ago and having gotten used to some of the cultural differences (far more than I thought) when reading through the answers I can tell some are from American and some are from British people and can understand how some answers might not make sense if the Q has come from an English person and a respondent is from the US. Why don't yahoo show this, I am sure it would help alot of people understand the answers they get better.

i have a question regarding volunteer opportunities that are helath-related
do med. schools think it is useless for you to volunteer in Gift Shops of hospitals? because albeit the fact the shop is in a hospital, all you are doing is selling goods which leans towards more to the retail area than health. is it an irrelevant volunteer job?

Heres the deal. I am facing mounting pressure from a particular class in the midst of 4 classes and having to work. This professor is just terrible. He bounces around from one topic to another and then after going on and on for 10 minutes on his tyrade..he returns to the lecture. I honestly do not think it wise to risk a C or C+ in this guys class because i have a 2.30 gpa. I had a bad first semester...where i ended up with a 1.65 gpa. the second semester i made good grades to pull it up to a 2.30. I cannot risk anything less than a B+ in my classes. The question is, if you were in my position and wanted to get in to law school...would you drop a class and salvage the other classes with higher grades, or would you risk accepting less than a B just to hurry up and finish? Do law schools frown more on lower gpa's or withdrawls? help!

I finished all of the Major requirements (11 classes of Poli Sci, with a 3.3 GPA in those classes). I am, however about 2 or 3 classes short of a few other requirements (1 or 2 histories for my cognate and 1 Spanish for my foreign language). My question is, with over 140 hours of undergraduate work and all of my requirements met for my major, can I put down on a job application or resume that I have a 4 year degree in Political Science? How many companies/employers actually verify degree completion? Etc. Etc. Can someone give me advice on this or point me in the right direction. I won't be able to take any classes for another 3 or 4 years, so keep that in mind. Thanks a bunch guys....
