The rule: If an adverbial clause is not essential to the meaning of a main clause, then separate the two with a comma.

So is the following sentence correct, even though a sentence structured in form of IC DC doesn't require a comma: I didn't buy any bread, as I am very poor.

*IC being independent clause
*DC being dependent clause

ok, well im doing a Step function research project where i have to graph a step function. i did my function on lost distance phone calls. for every minute, a phone company would charge $3.25.
got the picture yet?
well on the rubric for my project, it says: 10 points are giving for "real world problems using interpolation and extrapolation, with correct answers"

what in the world does my teacher mean by that???

the question is this:

the light from a 22-foot street lamp creates a shadow in front of a 5 and a half foot tall person standing 4 feet from the lamppost. how long is the person's shadow?

i believe the answer is impossible since
1) lights dont cast shadows
2) it does not state where in front of the person it ends
3) what if the person is wearing heels and isnt 5 and a half feet any more????

seriously.

am i right or what???
