I just finished my first semester of my freshman year, and have received no grades lower than a B (B- being the lowest). My mom and dad are going to ground me because of this (no electronics, etc), do you think that their actions are justifiable? (This is a private school by the way)

Your parents are freaking out because entrance to prestigious universities require that you have a nearly perfect record of straight A's. Often time, even that isn't enough.

So, ask yourself, what are your college plans? If you aren't trying for one of the top schools, maybe your parents should back off. However, if your goal is a top flight university, you should tough it out.

High School grades are more equitable than College grades, in my experience. I once had a class in which a girl friend needed help, so I wrote her paper. "Her" paper received an "A", while mine got a "B".

No, I don't think they should of grounded you because B's are pretty good. I got 6 A's and 1 B this semester but my brother got A's B's and C's. They might expect more of you just because you are in a private school. I'm in my freshman year of High School but it's public. They might think cause they paid more you should get all A's. But don't ever think you are not great enough because those are pretty good grades and some people would kill for your grades. But thats my perspective, it probably isn't your parents.

no, if your classes are honors or advanced placement, B's are equal to A's
