the only way to get employed is to teach the subject to others? Have the ideas of adademic freedom and choice in selection a major, allowing a student to major in a field that almost guarrantees no employment nor fill a need for society, become ridiculous? If someone is interested in such a field, do it as a hobby...why is public money spent on educating a non-employable workforce, or educating students in areas that fill no societal need? Electives are OK...but to major?

Hello! I was wondering what Culinary School is really like? I love to cook, and was thinking of concentrating on pastries, especially wedding cakes. The cooking school i'm looking at is Le Cordon Bleu here in Atlanta which i've heard is a really good one and they have won several national competitions. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!! PS-how much experience do they look for when admitting someone to the school? I don't have any experience in baking, just cooking, but think i'd be really good at it and am willing to learn. =)

I hate those stupid green scantron things. OMG the thing makes no sense to me, and then when I get it back it's got little red dots on it from some computer! On my history test, the answer to this one question was the letter A. So I colored in A by mistake on the next line, but then erased it but the stupid thing still says its wrong.

And one time I used pen and the whole thing was messed. WTF? Why do computers need to mark our tests?

I can't understand what "told the desk" means in the paragraph below:
"This was right after he was diagnosed. We were very careful not to let him know that he had a fatal disease. We told Dr.Degnan not to say anything. We told the desk. We kept this pretense going."
