A subordinate recently submitted a letter to me for approval containing the sentence, "this insurance plan is administrated by XYC Insurance Company." I questioned her use of "administrated," asking that she substitute the word "administered." She told me she thought I was wrong and referred me to MerriamWebster.com. Although the word "administrated" appears there as an inflected form of the word "administered," I told her that still doesn't mean it's grammatically correct in the sentence she wrote. Should I give her a mea culpa, or was I right?

Hi I'm curious as to how I can be an effective better note taker in class as the other note takers. I don't write very fast to get everything the instructor said, and i can't afford a laptop computer. Suggestions? Or am I being too hard on myself?

why was this system "invented" and why?

please someone give me some good advice on this. i got one mark away from a 2:1 and my work was consistantly 2:1 standard appart from when i was put in bad groups for group work which dropped my marks. i made every lecture and seminar, all work handed in on time. i rightly should have got a 2:1. i tried to get my work remarked to gain the extra mark but they said they dont do that. so i accepted this.

but at my graduation i found lots of people got remarks and were rewarded about 5 extra marks. even people that never turned up and i know cheated on essays etc. they didnt deserve it.

i am extremely dissapointed by this. is there anyway at all that i can regain that 1 mark so that i can get the 2:1 i deserve?

i graduated in 2005 and was at canterbury uni in the UK if that helps at all.

im extremely dissapointed still as i worked so hard and honestly on it, its a year on and im still fuming about it.

is there anything at all that can be done?

I am really concerned about one of the toddlers in my class. He will be 2 next month and still wears a bib because of his excessive drooling. He is not teething -- he's been wearing this bib and drooling like this since birth! He doesn't speak like the other children, who are learning to put sentences together now. He mostly babbles and spits. His mother asked me why he doesn't know any of the colors that the other children know -- but he's not grasping any of the stuff I'm teaching like the other kids. He barely responds to his name most of the time! What is going on? Should I be worried this much?
