I've seen several questions asking why people must place positive or negative labels on words. These suggest that the shock value of the words is an indication of how "anal" the hearer is. Some even suggest that those who don't want to hear about this f'n thing and that f'n thing are closed-minded and stupid.

I once got a preacher (at some weird encounter group or other, many years ago) to shout the F word over and over, so I'm hardly unfamiliar with the concept.

I'm older now, and quite certain that if all the current cuss words became a standard part of the formal language over night, most young people (and some who are not young, but haven't grown up), would immediately start searching for words to freak out the previous generations, in order to prove to themselves what rebels, and how open-minded, they are! It's a necessary part of becoming an adult to prove that you aren't your parents!

What do you think?

The first two characters are year: 06, the next is month made: H, A = January, the Third is Machine used (E or W), the last 4 digits are 1-1000. Someone says we should add a check digit behind the fourth sequence digit so that when you type it in later, you will get a "wrong" number if the improper digit is put in there. I am having trouble seeing the significance of how this might help. Can anyone help me see the light here?

I majored in political science as an undergrad. with an atrocious GPA of approx. 2.25. I just got denied from a state school's masters program. I an interested in marketing, PR, or possibly computer science. Would a second bachelors make sense? My employer would pay for 95% of it (school costs around $35,000 a year).

I am registered for Bowie State, which is in Maryland, and my classes at Bowie started 8/28, abut I am still not there because I am out of state and they did not have housing available to me on campus. I could still try to attend Bowie and just live off campus with my grandparents or my father who lives with his mother in Maryland, but to do this I would have to take 4 metro busses to and from the University, which I really do not want to deal with. have come to the conclusion that the only other thing I can do at this point is to withdraw from Bowie, at least for the Fall 2006 semester and try to take classes at a community college or something around here for fall 2005, then try to get back into Bowie for Spring 2007. But I need to know how to withdraw from Bowie before they start to charge me for the classes. Because if I am not there I do not want to have to pay the bill. So how do I withdraw for 2006? I called the registar office, but it just gave me a recording
