please someone give me some good advice on this. i got one mark away from a 2:1 and my work was consistantly 2:1 standard appart from when i was put in bad groups for group work which dropped my marks. i made every lecture and seminar, all work handed in on time. i rightly should have got a 2:1. i tried to get my work remarked to gain the extra mark but they said they dont do that. so i accepted this.

but at my graduation i found lots of people got remarks and were rewarded about 5 extra marks. even people that never turned up and i know cheated on essays etc. they didnt deserve it.

i am extremely dissapointed by this. is there anyway at all that i can regain that 1 mark so that i can get the 2:1 i deserve?

i graduated in 2005 and was at canterbury uni in the UK if that helps at all.

im extremely dissapointed still as i worked so hard and honestly on it, its a year on and im still fuming about it.

is there anything at all that can be done?

thanks for the answers so far, its not affecting me job wise as i havnt gone for any jobs as yet. its just that i never used to work so hard at school as i was at a bad under achieving school. this was my opportunity to make it right and work hard. its more for myself as worked incredibly hard and only feel disapointment about it, not so much achievement.

If it's very important to you, I would write a letter petitioning for the grade change. Present your argument based on your merits, not on others' conduct. State the fact that you learned of others who had received re-marks when you were told it wasn't done.

But one point should not make that much difference unless it prohibits you from post graduate education that you are considering. I don't know where a 2.1 puts you that a diploma doesn't.

even if if each and every thing you grew to change into in change into surely desirable, there would nonetheless be a probability that, because for sure guidelines, you would have earned an F. in case you in worry-free words did "especially strong" on seventy 8% of the paintings and were given zeroes at something, you quite earned an F. Doing "the overall public of the paintings" isn't adequate. Even those who do each and every of the paintings -- each and every piece -- can fail a classification. you quite do not qualify for an Incomplete until eventually you were passing the classification and some outdoors journey made it no longer plausible to end. meaning such issues as being run over through a automobile or having to all of unexpected anticipate duty for raising your youthful siblings, no longer merely "the summer time period is going through very right away" (which it does). this isn't an concern calling for "understand-how" on the portion of your professor: he did precisely what he change into meant to do. it really is a thoroughly sparkling black and white concern that comprises the grade you earned being appropriately stated to the Registrar. If I were you, the fellow i'd pass see will be some variety of counselor, to assist me understand why, when I knew how significant it change into to pass my instructions even as i change into on FA Probation, I had so thoroughly and devastatingly destroyed my personal probability at getting an training right this moment. Then i'd pass out, get a interest, keep as a lot money as i ought to, etc, so as that i ought to positioned myself with the help of community college and then attempt to get monetary help to finally end up at a 4-year college or college. (and that i'd like to imagine that after I had earned a bachelor's, i'd write the professor from "kinfolk well being and nutrition" and thank him for giving me a be-careful call that, even as painful on the time, change into responsible for procuring me all started on the longer-than-estimated direction to starting to be a valuable man or woman.) i do not ignore that this isn't what you had to take heed to, and that i'm sorry about that. i desire you've an spectacular year, and that you're prepared to come back to college -- the position you'll do 100% of the paintings nicely quite than seventy 8% of the paintings "especially strong" -- right away.

I'm in the US so I don't know if this applys, but most colleges have a system were you can dispute your grades even after the grading period is over. I don't know if you guys have deans or what, but you can talk to the head of that department where u took the class and see if they can help u file a dispute over your grade. I hope this helped a bit, even though we are worlds aways from each other.

It is annoying that you were lied to. I think at this point you should just drop it. Are you suffering in the job market from not having the 2.1? If you feel you are , then by all means pursue it. Most employers just care that you have the education, they don't really care what your grades were. If you are the best that is great, but if not they just care that you finished the courses.
