My former daycare provider, also a good friend homeschools her kids. Even though she didn't finish high school, she is their teacher. Recently she informed us that her son will be in the 5th grade this year, even though he is over 2 yrs younger than my son, who is entering 5th grade. I've done comparisons between the development of the two boys, mine is much further advanced than hers, an example of this is my son had to read the other boy's birthday cards to him this past spring, the other boy didn't know what the $10.00 check his grandmother gave him was. Does that sound like advanced intelligence, enough to skip 2 grades?

I'm looking at possibly majoring in history in college, but I would like to know more information about it. When you major in history, do you study the history of EVERYTHING (the entire world, civilizations, cultures, etc.)? Or are there smaller majors under a history heading (like an American history major, a european history major, etc.). I don't see how someone could be required to learn the entire history of everything, so hopefully I'm going in the right direction here? Are there specific concentrations you can choose to study (like American history?) I know there is an American Studies major out there too but in my case that may not be an option. Does anyone have any info?

I am probably going to get shot down for this question but here goes

I was just wondering what people think of teaching kids in school sex education. I am asking this because out of interest I was looking through my little sisters info pack for her new school in September and there is a dedicated lesson for Teen and Sexual Health Education. I don’t know if this is a subject they teach in all schools and I just wondered what people think about teaching 11 and 12 year olds this particular lesson

My thoughts on this is that if you teach a child about sex you make them interested in it and more likely to try at an early age. I think sex ed’ causes more teen pregnancies then it prevents and is responsible for wrecking more young lives then it actually saves. You give a child a gun and say hear you can hold this but dont play with it, do you think they are just going to hold it, no, they are going to experiment with it play with it and BANG off it goes, I think its the same with sex education. The child is given a tool that they are to young to understand fully and they play with it, experiment with it, BANG there is, and STD and then next time there is a teenage pregnancy

That is my thought on it and I was just looking for other people’s views

He uses a word at the end of that one that's completely unknown to me that sounds like "termagette"

Does anyone know what he's saying?

I am about to start school for my EMT-B cert. Would I be able to get on with a department once I have that? Or should I go for my Firefighter I cert and then test with departments? I know it depends on each FD's reqs. But, I was wondering which avenue would be the most fruitful. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
