I know there have been some slight changes to IDEA, but I cannot find the Sec. where it states the aide, para must have training in the area of the disability of the child they are helping. Does anyone know the section number.

You can go to the education department and they have an unofficial copy of IDEA online. When it came up I pressed ctrl+F and typed in paraprofessional and it takes you straight there. It is on page 87, but I can't quite figure out the section.

It is page 118 section 635 (a) #8... it does not say that the aide needs to be specifically trained in the area of disability that the child has, just that they have to have some general training in working with children with disabilities. Go to the website listed in the response above to find it.
