DVD player ==> VCR (permanently plugged into)
DVD player run through VCR, ending at TV
If taping a channel on VCR, this means can't watch DVD player on TV (as it's single signal o/p (stereo L & R audio, video) is plugged into VCR, & i dunt want to unplug & plug into TV). So, want a 2ND 3-cable to be "split-off" single DVD 3-cable (which will plug into TV's 2nd a/v input)

The Q is, what sort of spitter do i need?
A) "Basic" splitter (VCR & TV will have 1/2 of singal quality?)
B) "Buffered" splitter (eg "Y-cable") (buffereing only to prevent signal distortion when both outputs connected to a component, but 1st comp. is active, but 2nd is switched off (& is shorted to ground, hence the distortion effect on 1st o/p comp)
C) "Amplified" splitter (eg a/v "distibution" devices)
D) Other (?)

I know that they have a record protection thing on them and that you cant record them, I own these and purchased them at full price, I really dont feel like repurchasing them. But I also dont have a video player to play them. They arent worth enough to sell on ebay so I would like to try and put them on DVD, is there any way?

The early players a few years down the line will end up feature poor and replaced by much better cheaper players. Im surprised people cant wait.

The same thing happened with DVD players!

I bought a HP Pavilion Media Center PC. It has many plug ins for the three prongs or the TV type plug that you can run video out of a VCR with. I tried the manuals and online help. No help there. I want to be able to plug my VCR into the PC and hit the play button on the VCR and click some kind of record button on my PC so that it will save the information being streamed to it in a Windows movie media format. right now I tried plugging the VCR into the PC and looking for the program on my computer (Intervideo) that is for this task, but its not on here (maybe it didn't come with the computer like the online help site said it should) so are there any free downloadable softwares you know of? Or do you know what programs the HP Pavilion has that could do this?
