my brother was telling me that he can go online and can check exactly where his car is and has been due to a chip he put in for his gps system. Is that even possible?

lojack isnt a gps system its an actuall tracker...i wanted to know if there was a gps system that could track the car like that

Yes. You can track through GPS system. That's how GM's globalstar works, as well as BMW assist. The antitheft devices work that way too.

Next question is how well they work. Pinpoint accurarcy depends on how well the frequency used to transmit the gps data gets to your brothers, or GM, or BMWs computer servers. Some of it is crappola...some of it works.

Depends on what kind of system that you have. In some cases your car can be tracked, by people with the proper access, right down to the street corner.

Yes, and some people are using it to track the whereabouts of their teenagers. Also some high end cars offer that option to prevent/deter successful theft.

yes it is. i read in seventeen magazine a story about this girl who's parents spied on her through her car with a gps tracking device
