Hello all,

I have been trying to set up my new dvd recorder (Philips DVDR5350) since I bought 3 days ago. It went up to as far as basic set up completed. When I had to carry on next step (setting up / installing Guide+ facility) by following instructions of course, it didn't do anything although I had left the recorder on standby over night (up to 24 hours) as it was instructed. I kept repeating this stage 3 times now but nothing. Then when I tried to repeat for the fourth time, I chose to skip the set up Guide+ by choosing "install later". So now after a fashion the recorder is working without having Guide+ installed. However, a message "X error" keep appearing on the top right hand corner of my TV screen. At some point I have to complete the set up by installing Guide+.

Is there anybody there knows what I'm talking about? Can you please help me?

Thank you.

The Terk works fairly well but mostly on close, strong stations. Would an outside antenna perfrom better than inside one? I have a TV "Yagi" antenna and also a Radio Shack omni directional FM antenna.Which would be better? I'm not crazy about putting up a pole outside the house. Please be specific when recommending inside antennas such as manufacturer, Model name/#, approx cost, etc. Thanks.....

when they need batteries to work them, there's nothing worse for a child to open a present and not have the batteries to work it! or not having the correct amount! it cant be cost, because you have got to buy the batteries anyway!

I've just bought a new washer/dryer (being delivered today) and I've noticed that the maximum 'washing' weight is greater than the 'drying' weight. Does this mean that once washing becomes wet, it could be too heavy to dry? How can I make sure I don't overload the machine - as I think that's what happened with the old one?
