i have general electric clock probably 25 or 30 years old . face has round hole red and white indicator?

when the hole is red what does it indicate?
when it is white what does it indicate?

These almost have to be the AM & PM designations.

Try unplugging the clock and manipulating the dial manually (I'm guessing this has either a dial or those old flip-over type numbers like a rolodex).

If I'm right, you should be able to watch the indicator change from red to white as 12 PM and 12 AM approach and leave.

I think that it means that it is running. it is changing red to white and back again to red.
