There are diesel generators at my work on which the oil and filters are changed every 200 hours operating time or once per year, whichever comes first. There have been issues with the radiators getting blocked internally, as well as the cooling fins getting covered with oil and dirt restricting air flow.

Schedule a weekly test run to ensure everything comes on properly, check the block heater, fluid levels, batteries, etc. Once per month run the system at full load. For extended operation you may want to schedule downtime for preventive maintenance to ensure the system remains relaible.

I have other information about small portable generators on my web site which may help as well.
