My lcd doesnt have HDMI input but has DVI, and the dvd player doesnt have dvi output only component, composite, svideo and hdmi, i would use component but i wanna upconvert dvd's and from what ive read that isnt allowed because of some protection stuff, but if i were to use a HDMI to DVI cable off of like ebay from the dvd to the tv would it work and would it still look good, and if that would work what would i do about the audio because doesnt the hdmi have the audio integrated and the dvi doesnt? any help would be appreciated thanks.

I have a quick question in regards to using my Sony Center Channel SS-CN495H (2-way) 150W and Sony Front Speakers SS-MF500H (3 way )150W in place of the Onkyo Center Channel SKC-540C 130W and Onkyo Front Speaker SKF-540F (2-way) 130W. I would then utilize the Onkyo rear speakers and Subwoofer. I assume that I will get greater front end performance due to the fact that the Sony Front Spears have greater wattage and are 3 way versus the Onkyo Front Speaker (2 way) Anyway, what are your suggestions with switching the front speakers out with Sony versus Onkyo? Will I get greater overall home theater and general audio performance?

My boyfriend and I bought 2 HD TVS and have a XBOX 360. I know that the XBOX is HD, and can play DVDS. We currently do not have a HD DVD player (whew...soooo expensive), and we want to watch HD movies on our new tvs. If I buy HD DVDs, will they play in the same crystal clear quality in the XBOX as it would in a HD DVD player?

Also, we have Directv and bought the HD Directv reciever which are not hooked up up entirely yet (Directv still has to come and set up our new dish). The channels in my opionin come in kinda fuzzy as of now. When the setup is complete, will all the channels come in crystal clear?

Help! (cant u see...I know nothing about HD!)

At the same time I noticed that big screen TVs were starting to become standard; I saw a stock market report that Block Buster Video stock was tanking. No one is renting videos so what are more and more people watching on the big screen at home? Is rip and burn that prevelent on DVDs. I got cable so I know that is not the answer, because cable is, how should I say, crap.

I have Comcast cable and I am trying to watch Sportscenter on ESPN HD. The cable guide says that it is in 5.1 surround sound, but no sound is coming out of my surround L/R speakers. Should sound be coming out of these speakers in 5.1?

I don't think either one of them had a long life, that beta max was 4$700.00 and weighed about 60 lbs! Shortly after those came out, the VHS replaced it. That Video disc was as large as a full size record. Remember that, did you have one?

I'm moving to a small apartment , size 700sq feet.
I need to buy a small stereo system . What would recommend?
I love "World" and Classical music. I want something cheap
Would the sound be good if I bought a computer and hooked good speakers, or it's better to have a small home theatre system , hooked up to the TV?
Thanks

I have a home theater (with DVD player) and a cable recorder box connected to my HDTV. The home theater is on HDMI-1 and the cable box is connected to Component-2 (video and audio). How do I use my home theater speakers to play the audio when I'm watching cable TV through component-2? What additional wiring connections do I need to make? My cable recorder box also has a HMDI connection capability.

The wire they used is made up of two very thin wires (not sure the gauge) and a ground. Can I just add a male RCA connector to each end?
