I own a pair of Polk Rti6s, and love them. They are a great pair of speakers for the price, particularly if you look into thier construction and the tech behind them compared with the construction and tech behind any of thier competitors comparable models. (check out the link to find out about the tech behind the Rti's). The thing that impressed me most about them after many, many hours (I worked as an audio salesman for two and a half years) of hearing them in A-B comparisons with several other comparable brands was the reality of thier vocal reproduction. The other brands (Bose, Infinity, Klipsh, JBL, Jamo) never came close to the warmth, clarity, and smooth reality of the Polk's when listening to music that highlighted vocals. That being said maybe you listen to thrashing heavy metal and don't care an ounce about vocal reproduction quality, but you do want glass shattering highs and boomy bass... you might want to look into infinity or Klipsh. All around the Polks are a well rounded speaker with decent low's and clean high's, but like I said it's the mid range in particular where the Polk's outshine the rest of thier price point's crowd.
The most important thing to remember when you are choosing speakers, however, is that it doesn't matter at all what thy are made of or even if they can do your laundry for you while chewing gum and singing you to sleep with some sureal Dvorjak etc. etc. etc... If you don't like the way they sound when you buy them you probably never really will. Take in a CD or two that your familiar with, listen to your favorite tracks on a bunch of different speakers, and buy the one that sounds the best to you. Beauty is in the eye... wait scratch that... Beauty is in the ear of the beholder. If you cant get to a place where you can do side-by-side comparisions you might just have to take my word for it. I love them, and so did my customers who took them home with them. Good luck!

P.S. Polk's user review's give the Rti 6's 5 out of 5 stars overall - only 3 out of 32 reviewers gave them less (and each of those 3 gave them 4 out of 5 stars!). Not Bad!
