At the same time I noticed that big screen TVs were starting to become standard; I saw a stock market report that Block Buster Video stock was tanking. No one is renting videos so what are more and more people watching on the big screen at home? Is rip and burn that prevelent on DVDs. I got cable so I know that is not the answer, because cable is, how should I say, crap.

I agree that cable is crap as a general rule. How ever HDTV is a cable exclusive so far, and many people are out buying the latest TVs for when it becomes standard.
As for what people are watching, I would have to say the biggest draw to a big screen is sports. Nothing like watching NASCAR or Football, and feeling like you are sitting in with the crowd.
