I haven't used my camcorder in a while but I need it for a project so I plugged it in, it turned on fine, I put a tape in it, that worked, then when I took the tape out, the tape reader compartment would not close. If I push it where it says to, it closes for about 2 seconds and then pops open again, as if I wanted it to open. But I don't. I could really use some help here! I need this camcorder for a project over the weekend! Any ideas as to what could be wrong??

I just stuck my card into my computer (my computer has a place memory sticks, not the same as camera one) after uploading my videos. I then looked at the things to do and saw nothing to do with uploading videos.

I'm looking into the Canon XL2 but I don't want to miss out on an HD camera if it's the next big thing. On Canon's website it says the active pixels for the XL H1 are 1.56 in HD and for 16:9 SD it's 1.56 THE EXACT SAME. I thought HD was more resolution in the same amount of space or more pixels per inch. Where am I misunderstanding? Also, where can I see side by side comparison of the XL2 with one of Canon's HD camera's or at least one of the HD's since I can find XL2 footage. HELP!

Hi everyone, the reason for my odd question is because I was told that if I fix the "Iris" manually on my camera and not let the "gain" kick in, I can get a cleaner video with less noise.

Is that true? ... if so, exactly how does that process work because I've lowered the Iris, but the picture gets darker, what about the gain?

I'm a newbie when it comes to this stuff.

In advance Thanks for any tips.

I know at this current point in time, all footage, be it film or HD, is eventually downgraded to be played on a DVD. Why is it that my downgraded HDV doesn't look that impressive? I'm using Vegas 5 and am using my HC3 built-in downconverter. Should I up my bitrate? Also, I shoot like a pro so it's not an issue of crappy cinematography. And I understand in the end, it's video. I just know there has to be a way to get a better DVD quality and I'm trying to find it.

I'm trying to decide on a Sony DVD camcorder. One has 370K pixels and the 670K. If standard def is around 720x480 that is 345K pixels. Why should I get the 670K?

I don't care about stills since I carry my 10MP camera. Image stabilization is not too much of a concern. Thanks.

How do I figure out which one is right for me? I don't want to spend too much more than $300 tops. I think the dvd ones sound good but I honestly don't have a clue how to select the best one for my personal needs. Help?

I taped a wedding for a family member including the 1/2 hour or so of a string quartet playing while guests arrived. I would like to take the audio of that pre-ceremony music and put it onto a CD for them (it included some original music the couple wrote). Without investing in a lot of software for a one-time project, what is a good way put this audio track onto a music CD so they could listen to it on any CD player (not just a computer).

i'm shopping on ebay for an old but working Super 8mm video camera. I want to shoot some film (with the nostalgic 70's look to it), but being that i wasnt even alive in the 70's, i dont know what's good to buy and what isnt good to buy. Any thoughts on brands, makes, etc. With and/or without sound. I'm not looking for super quality, but rather the rustic, nostalgic quality.

Thanks!
