this not only gives you a firewire port but also a RCA connection for capturing from VCR, DVD Players, Older Cameras, etc. You cant just use the USB port on the camera as this will only transfer movies recorded to memory stick (poor quality) or else still pictures. Something like the pinnacle box if you have usb 2.0 would be best, you can find it at best buy too probably if you dont want to buy it online.
