Consumer Electronics - 4 December 2006

My eight year old son loves to listen to military/patriotic songs so for Christmas I want to get him an inexpensive MP3 player loaded with songs so he can listen to them on his own. Obviously, I don't want to spend a lot because the chance of something happening is high but then I don't want to buy junk either. So does anyone have any recommendations for a decent cheap MP3 player and where to find them at. THanks!

Like if I buy a movie or music video does that go to the itunes library. Then would i be able to transer the videos and stuff to any mp3 player (that plays video.) Would i also be able to transfer music from Itunes to any mp3?

I have an extra telephone jack in my den. I need to know if there is a way to disable the jack to keep unauthorized persons from using that jack. Talking out the phone is not an option. I really just need to see that a phone cannot be plugged into that outlet. I have gotten some great help from this feature on Yahoo. Thanks to all.

My friend told me yesterday that she was told plasma tv's were going to be phased out. Her source is someone who sells tv's. I've been researching the pro's and con's to plasma versus lcd and never came across this. Is she just blowing smoke or is there some truth to her response? If that's the case, then why should people even be buying them? It just doesn't make any sense!

What is it about the design of an antenna that helps it to function more efficiently? How exactly does it pull the signals in?

Would it hurt, help, or not really affect the reception, if I attatched a metal object to it? Would it give it more surface area for signals to be absorbed through or interfere with the origional design?

I just bought a digital mp3 player with 1Gb storage capacity, i have copied some songs with usb data cable from my computer in mp3's menu it shows me just 4 foulder actually there is 12 folder after delete all command i still have some folder in mp3 and i tried to delete these from my computer but its not deleting and making internal folder what's that? how can i delete these files from my mp3

We're looking at the Bose SoundDock or Altec Lansing IM7 speakers for our iPods. We want something that will provide nice sound for an area about 1200sqft. (Kitchen, Dining, Parlor)

My box is playing up - Now most channels have disappeared and I have to repeatedly switch off the box at the mains to reset it coz it keeps freezing! I have connected the box to an external ariel and the same problem occurs. Please note te tv channels were all intact until afew days ago when they all disappeared. Any ideas?

What i’m really looking 4 is someone with experience on a 2.6 downgrade to 1.5 (if u downgraded successfully).

What you need to know,
1) I’ve got a PSP with 2.60fw, it's a non TA-082 version, and I want to DOWNGRADE it desperately.
2) I have the GTA: liberty city stories UMD game.
2) Also, I want to be able to PLAY full PSP games (I have downloaded some already).
3) I understand that I need an UMDemulator, devhook, (and have the right folder arrangements).
4) I also what to run kernel-mode applications (that means anything that emulates ISOs/UMDs).
5) And the downgrade should allow me to run all homebrews.

IF YOU HAVE/KNOW ABOUT ALL THESE THINGS THEN PLEASE HELP MEEEEEE!!!!! If you know links (URL’s) to any websites that have the answer to my question(and they meat my requirements)then PLEASEEEEE tell me.

Is the new Blue Ray going to replace DVD's or just add on to them? I hope it doesn't replace them because I own about 140 DVD's (I collect movies) and over 100 VHS, I don't need another movie medium to have to work with. Not to mention I will have to fit a Blue Ray on my tv stand next to the VHS player and DVD player and nintendo. I don't think I can fit it.
