My box is playing up - Now most channels have disappeared and I have to repeatedly switch off the box at the mains to reset it coz it keeps freezing! I have connected the box to an external ariel and the same problem occurs. Please note te tv channels were all intact until afew days ago when they all disappeared. Any ideas?

There's been a lot of inclement weather here in the UK in the last week or so. This could have dislodged from its spot or swung round in the wrong direction. Look on the roof (from ground level) and see if it in the same position to the others nearby. If that does not resolve the issue, then your aerial may have been damaged by vandalism. There could be many other causes, but these are just a few I can think of.

I hope this helps.

Sounds like you have a problem with firmware. This gets updated on-air every few months and sometimes it goes wrong. Go through the set-up or initialisation menus and see if you can find an option that lets you update the firmware manually. You might have to wait a few days until next time they broadcast the firmware for your make and model.

An alternative is to download the firmware to your PC over the web, and then update your digibox through the serial socket - but this is for power users only.

freeview is changing,a lot of channels will be lost, and some not transmitted anymore.Top up is taking over and that is going up in price to £9.99 from £7.99 so you probably need an upgrade,if you dont want sky that is.new boxes for freeview/topup out soon.

The boxes are quite stable, sounds like you've a problem with the cable.

maybe the ariel blew ouyt of position in the wind, other than that it could be a fault with the box.
