I have an extra telephone jack in my den. I need to know if there is a way to disable the jack to keep unauthorized persons from using that jack. Talking out the phone is not an option. I really just need to see that a phone cannot be plugged into that outlet. I have gotten some great help from this feature on Yahoo. Thanks to all.

you could use a rj45 connector the same plug which is there on ur telephone cable.
plug this in and tape it up this provides basic security
otherwise u could remove it or dissconnect the wires
1.Open the box
2.U will see 2 wires attatched to 2 screws
3.Loosen any 1 of the wires and pull it out
4.Close the box
5. It will look like its connected but u wont be able to make or recieve calls untill u connect it back in.

Jesus don't cut the wires. The phone company wont fix it back with out charging you if you damage it...even if you have the repair plan. Just carefully unwire it, or rewire it a different way (switch the wires). Really and truly, just buy a blank plate to put over it. That's the easiest.

Take the cover off the jack and disc the wires and cut off any bare wiring to prevent them touching each other which could cause them to short and put all your phones out of service. then put cover back on and that jack is now disconnected.
