I've just borrowed some cds from the library, transferred them onto my pc, and I'm listening to them through a headset using windows media player. I've got the volume control turned up as far as it will go on media player - that's the sliding triangle type of control. It's only just loud enough and I want it louder. But the sliding triangle is over to the right as far as it will go. I could make the sound louder by taking off the headset and using the knob on the speakers but I don't want to use speakers - I want to use headphones (for various reasons, family members etc). Anyway, I've been into control panel settings and maxed the volume there but it's hardly made any difference.

Surely there's something more I can do to get the sound louder in my headphones?

My Toshiba Portege won't turn on.

I keep pressing the power switch but nothing happens.

The batteries are fully charged and the power cable is inserted.

I don't know what's going on.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

My computer keeps freezing. It loads up OK( usually) but then crashes after a couple of minutes. Been trying to fix it but it doesn't run long enough to finish running a registry patrol scan or virus scan. Any ideas? Can I run it in a different mode or something to stop it from crashing whilst I run tests.

I'm on windows XP, (am using registry patrol because it looks simpler to run than XP medic).

(Can I have simple jargon free step by step instructions please, I can work a computer but am definately not an expert).

my computer is new
windows xp Ei-S 102 system

ram is 224 mb

i thought a ram was a goat or ramming into a wall

dont fancy getting rammed 256 times, unless it is under neath a nice female

I was going to back all the stuff I want up onto CD today and then once thats done, stick in the boot disc and clear everything off and start again. I have so much rubbish that I've downloaded and don't use etc that my computer is now running slower. However, my missus is now worried that if I do this, I am going to wipe off her important email from her BT Internet account and her contact list. Not very good with computers so is this true? Anyone help? Thanks in advance.

if you designed a computer game what would it be about? The ones on the market seem a bit samey to me.

I can imagine a sims style game with all the yahoo avatars from answers on it. Could get nasty though!

i have an administrator account in my sisters pc, but i think she did something with it.

i dont have any toolbars in all of my folders, even the formatting toolbar is gone(the one that contains 'file' 'edit' view' etc. i think its called standard toolbar). how can i restore it?

and more details: it runs on xp pro.

I don't know why (hence me asking). It didn't use to happen.
I'm not even putting my feet near the computer or anything, but when I sit down the computer will restart some times. It also restarts when I get up. I'm not near the wires or anything and the computer is off the ground anyway.
