Hi Jony,

Love your sense of humor, 'cause you're gonna need it! I'm not a whizz kid, bit I hope that I'll do! Interesting RAM loss problem! RAM is Random Access Memory. Some computers have integrated graphics which share the main system memory.
***************************
Did you add a graphics card, or go into the BIOS and change a setting? Did you have to reset your computer? It's possible that your computer was reset the recovery activated the integrated graphics allocating 32MB of RAM to the display. You need someone to check your system - we can't do that for you - to see if it does use integrated graphics or if it has a discrete graphics card. The settings should be in the BIOS, but if you are new, it is not a good idea to go there unless directed by a technician.
****************
Even if you have got integrated graphics the system may have originally allocated the memory so that when the reset occured more memory was allocated. You could also have someone move the memory to a different socket to see if anything changes. Usually a memory chip will completely fail rather than lose a percentage of capacity.
*****************
Because you are new to computers, I would rather refer you to the computer manufacturer's Technical Support people for this problem if you are still under warranty or if not, go to a authorized service depot to work this problem out. If you reset the BIOS incorrectly, your system could crash and if you reseat the memory chips incorrectly or mishandle them, they will be damaged and need to be replaced.
*****************************
This utility can assist you in self-diagnosing the problem, but I would strongly suggest that you have someone else handle the physical repair procedures.
Microsoft Memory Diagnosis

Windows Live One Care does work on 256 RAM, but also needs WinXP Service Pack 2.

If you don't have it, you have to launch Windows Update on your PC and download it before you can use One Care. You can wait on this when the RAM issue is resolved!

Wishing you the very best!

RAM is an acronym for random access memory. First of all someone shouldn't be installing windows XP on a machine unless you have at least 512 MB of ram and preferably 1024MB. Thats my suggestion at least.

RAM is just a place your computer needs to store all those windows and games and applications you are using while you're using them.

You can buy more. I don't know what an Ei-s 102 system is, but if it's a desktop theres usually an extra slot. Laptops are usually capable of adding or swapping out RAM. You'll just need to know what kind of RAM to buy. I'd need to know a little more about the computer hardware.

It's RAM as in Random Access Memory not ram as a male goat; it is saying the RAM is not large enough to proceed. RAMs in today's system is the chips on a flat stick within the computer case. Go ask for a 512 mb purchase; bring and show the store manager the computer since you don't know the stuff (yes, I meant it), it is obvious you have a shared memory system so 256 will not cut it.

Also tip the guy well for the technician work you about to put him through.

Ok.............. basically RAM is called Random Acces Memory. This is so-called the thinking area of the computer. The bigger the number the bigger the thinking area.

Since you said your computer is new you could check with the company you bought the from about the specifications of your computer and also ask more about the RAM. Asking what type it is e.g. DDR or DDR2 or SDRAM. With this information in hand you can go to any computer shop and ask for a 512 MB stick of RAM in the same specifications.

RAM comes in a form of a stick. So after you have bought the right kind try to look for the same thing in your computer. you should have empty slots to the left of the existing sticks of RAM.

RAM stands for Random Access Memory...it is where the computer stores stuff... You need a new card!!!
If you are new to computers then how come you are on this site? isnt your computer like dead or something?

Take it back to the shop and say Im not suitable to use this I am too stupid.
