plz help me install firefox on my highschool laptop. u cannot open programs or install them. i was wondering if there was anyway to bypass this.

Does anyone in Brisbane Australia know of a charity organisation that takes second hand computers? I rang the Salvation Army and they don't take them for some reason. I don't want to give it to Lifeline as they have a tendancy of throwing things out (were caught on tape dumping 2 truck loads of brand new toys etc!) Unfortunately I don't have a car so I need a place that will come and pick it up. There is nothing wrong with it - I've just got a brand new one now. I bought a brand new cd rom to go with the old computer and it's never been used. Any ideas you could give me would be fantastic!! Thank you and I hope you all have a great week!! :)

I need to buy th least expensive computer I can get without buying garbage. The one I have now I paid $1200 about six years ago. I can't spend that, or close, now. What is the cheapest and best brand I can get that would not be worse than the one I have, please don't laugh, I need help.

For a while my "a" drive did not even show up in the my computer window. I did a disk clean, virus check, and defrag and it came back, but now all the disks read as not formatted. What could have happended! Can we ever get the data off those disks?

i have an ibm computer with windows xp that used to belong to a college. apparently to ensure that students didn't mess things up they have some sort of security feature that resets everything when the computer is restarted. i can't make any changes or even install new programs without them being gone with the next reboot. anyone know how i can dissable this? i'm thinking that maybe if i reinstall windows? don't even know if that will do it, and even if it would, i could prob buy another good computer for the cost of a windows cd. any suggestions?

My husband is an educator and I am a photographer. We need to be able to give our clients access to their courses (podcasts) and sessions (photocasts) without letting the world be able to view them. However, we need to them to be accessible via the internet; most of our clients do not have Macs.

Basically, we need someone to be able to go to our .Mac website, click on a link for their particular podcast or photocast, and enter a password to be able to view it. How is this possible without password protecting the entire site?

I am more than competant on PCs, however, I am BRAND new to Macs, so detailed information would be very helpful as I am new to all of this.

I want to check a box of unlabeled floppy disk,some are used and some are not, do I just put it in the slot, I don't want to install whatever's on them. I usually label those things but goof there.
