I don't really know much about technology (So please be specific when answering this). It's not the I don't have a phone but have a line installed, because I think you can get the internet if you just pay the basic line rental, I don't actually have a phone line running from my house. I need help because I despereately need unlimited access to the internet for my studying and just using it at work an internet cafe's is starting to get annoying. Do I have to pay BT to fit a phone line or is there another way around it? Please help. Thanks.

I am going to be traveling without my computer and I want to know where I can go to use the internet for several hours at a time. The library has a 1 hour limit and you need a library card. Any places I can go? I can only pay cash since I don't have a credit card.

Ok, here's my story... whenever I search for an access point their are sometimes no access points, so i try agian. The second time i can;t belive it and there are tons of them now, And I didn't even move!!!! Then if i ever do find a access point that has a strong signal and no password then, it says "The access point was not detected" and if the PSP finds the access point it will say " The IP address haved Timed out ". I need to know how to stop all this from happening and just go on the internet!!!! Also, what does the signal strength have to do with anything???

i am currently on internet lite (128kpbs), and when i watch a 10 minute video, i usually have to wait about 8 minutes for it to lead 3 quarters way and then i can start watching. i was wondering if if upgraded my internet connection to 1000kpbs, will i be able to watch videos without pausing?

i am using internet connection in a college accommodation. I don't know whether i connect through college server, but i have a distinct IP given to me, and i found in one article by college, not to set any browser to use proxy in connection.
I installed a program called BitLord (and bittorrent as well) and set my ports as 6881 as i learnt from one artice from the internet. I made my norton firewall allow this program (windows firewal is turned on). I run bitlord and try to download one file. The log message says the following!

Default tracker optimization rules file loaded.
IP rules file: ipfilter.dat loaded, 0 entries.
Start Listening at TCP Port:6881
Start Listening at UDP Port:6881
Windows XP ICF Status: Firewall port is opened.
Update Local IP: xxx.xx.xx.xx (omitted)
Windows XP ICS Status: cannot find working ICS.
Windows XP UPnP Status: device not found!

and thats it.. but i can perfectly connect to web, email and everything. i can use programs like skype as well! pls help!

Have home movies I desperately want to send to my parents halfway across the world. Googletalk file transfer has size limits. It's ok if it's slow, but is there anyway to do this without breaking up the files with compression programs? My parents will never be able to figure out how to put the files together, they have a hard time shutting down the computer.
