I don't really know much about technology (So please be specific when answering this). It's not the I don't have a phone but have a line installed, because I think you can get the internet if you just pay the basic line rental, I don't actually have a phone line running from my house. I need help because I despereately need unlimited access to the internet for my studying and just using it at work an internet cafe's is starting to get annoying. Do I have to pay BT to fit a phone line or is there another way around it? Please help. Thanks.

Get a phone line put in, this is the 21st century after all!
Satellite Broadband still relies on the phone line for upstream requests and uses the satellite link for downstream data only, it's not bidirectional - oh and it's REALLY expensive to setup (hundreds) so just get a phone line put in as if you have just moved there and request broadband ADSL to be provisioned on the line.
Whoever said they pay £27 a month for capped access is being ripped off - I pay £20 for unlimited.
You don't need a phone on the line to use broadband - only the line enabled, you can buy a cheap phone for less than £20 though.

It depends on what's available in her area. A phone company can still install a high speed DSL Internet connection, though I'm not sure if they would require phone service to go along with it. Cable companies usually also offer internet, often in a variety of speeds. Mine is through a cable company, and I don't use the cable TV service (though I would get a discount on it if I got both). Or, there's satellite services if she's in a remote area that isn't serviced by high-end enough wiring to allow for highspeed internet through more traditional means. Cost depends on what the companies in her area offer, and what taxes/fees are required by the local governments. She should be able to find the local cable and phone companies in a telephone book; it should only take a few minutes to call and ask their rates and terms.

Depending on the internet provider you would have to have a phoneline installed. Some companies do provide wireless internet access without a phone line but it is generally of poor quality. If you need to install a phone line you will have to pay line rental.

I assume you are in England, since you mentioned BT. Do you have cable service at your home? If so, you could get broadband, though I do not know what their requirements are for a modem, router if necesssary, etc. You would need to call the cable company for that information. But broadband would give you unlimited access, 24/7. Just make sure, if you do get cable, to have them help you set it up properly.

This site should be able to tell you what sort of internet services are available to the area you live in and provide links to the sites of service providers.

It would be very rare for there to be no line at all to any UK property, active or not. I'm afraid they do charge something like £100+ to rig a new connection, though.

as long as their is no outstanding debt on the line and there is a line present(you have already said there's one) then bt should get the line activated for you for free. HOWEVER!! you WILL need to start a contract with bt for at LEAST a year(usually) and you will have to pay line rental and obviously broadband charges(mine costs about 27 quid a month for 40gb download limit)

Try your local cable company...its better than dial up (phone line) anyway.
